Pole by FOOT!

Had a long run today at ecp. Never thought that I would be able to touch the pole by foot. So happi. Its a greater achievement to reach there by foot than by blades. =)

Run started badly with stomach aching after a mere 2 km of trotting. Guess I ate abit too late for lunch. After some walk cum trot and burping. Everything is fine again. Dats oreadi halfway to the pole. The original plan was to just reach the jetty (that you can watch planes from). But since I'm already there, might as well visit the poles. Coz I hafen done that in a long while. Missed the times when I go there every week but I guess some things are only meant to be done at some point in time. The point never comes back or maybe we don't.

The sky turned dark when I was on my way back. So I just trotted faster. First time I experience knee pain when running. Usually its just the ankles. Wonder if I can make it on the Big Day. Ha... Hopes so? =) Its something I wanna do once in life and hopefully the once comes this yr.

Training is really tough. Endure the lonely runs. Endure the faithful practice every week. Of coz I did slack off my schedule quite a bit. Else I wldn't be so worried.

And then I discovered the stupid blisters with bloody blood inside when I reach home. Ouch. I shall not run so far again till the day comes... Save the blisters for the rainy day.

The TeDDy BeaR Story....

More than a hundred years ago, a very special stuffed toy appeared in the window of a candy shop in Brooklyn, New York. Morries and Rose Michtom owned that shop in which they displayed the stuffed toy named "Teddy Bear" in honor of President Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt.

Teddy Bear story began in a strange place - the woods of the U.S. in Nov 1902. President Roosevelt was on a bear hunting trip, something he really enjoyed. At the end of his trip, he did not had the chance to hunt a single bear.
One of his staff members caught a bear cub and leashed it to a tree for President Roosevelt to shoot. When he saw it, he said, "It is not a sportmanlike behaviour!" He lowered his gun and ordered his associates to release the bear.

Clifford Berryman, a cartoonist for the Washington Post, drew a cartoon to accompany a story of what happened at the hunting trip. The cartoon, published on Nov 16, 1902, was entitled "Drawing the line in Mississippi." It showed a small, bewildered bear, with round eyes and large ears, at the end of a leash.
President Roosevelt was standing with his back turned, refusing to shoot the bear. Seeing this cartoon, Rose Michtom decided to make a jointed, stuffed bear like the bear in the cartoon. She got permission from the President to call him "Teddy's Bear." Thus, teddy bears were born.

KoReA Trip ~Day One to Three~

Its time for another trip again!

And this time it's Korea... Initially wanted to go Taiwan to 吃喝玩乐, but then all those who are interested are girls so its not very safe to go 'free n easy'... Hence we decided to go Korea instead!

Package costed us SGD$1421 incl. tax. Compulsory tips amts to USD$40. Package did not cover some meals and some theme park rides and hence costed more than expected in total. Things there are also quite ex, so if anyone is intending to go Korea, remember to bring more $$$!
Ok so here goes the trip details and lotsa photos...
**************** 31st Oct 07 ~ 7th Nov 07 ***************
Day One
We departed for Seoul at 1055pm!~
No photos coz its juz slping on the airplane.

Day Two
We arrived at Incheon International Airport in the morning. After washing up, we proceed to visit Kyongbok Palace and National Folk Museum in Seoul.

Nth much very interesting here so there's not much nice pics to show. =)
Next up we depart from Gimpo International Airport to Jeju Island situated at the southern most part of Korea. Well, I muz say that it's a misconception that southern part would not be so cold. The winds there are so strong that it simply penetrates the clothes~ Brrr...First we visits the mysterious road.. which looked just like an ordinary road. But your vehicle is able to travel uphill by itself without motor power~ Legend says that it may be the work of some 'mysterious' power but it may well be some optical illusion deceiving us.

After getting mysterified, we goes the the seaside to view the Yongduam Dragon Rock (龙头岩). As the name suggests, the rock is supposed to look like the dragon’s head.
*Can see the ‘dragon head’ in the background?
This is one of the places that I enjoyed, coz of the magnificent waves!
Ah here u see the ‘土地公’ statue~ Our tour guide told us that those who wish to give birth to boys shld go touch the 土地公’s nose. Don’t ask me why muz be the nose but the tour guide says muz walk to the back of the statue to look then will understand. (Shall 卖关子 here… Find out the answer if you go Jeju one day~) Oh one peculiar sight is that u can see the 土地公 statues and figurines everywhere in Jeju!

Lastly we went to the underground shopping street called ‘Jungang Underground Shopping Centre’. Din buy anything there coz lazy to bring the stuff all the way back to Seoul.

Day Three
*Nice view taken at our hotel early in the morning
Day three is still spent in Jeju, places visited includes
1. Chonjiyeon waterfall (仙女桥)
*Picture of the 仙女桥
*The waterfall is seen after walking down a long flight of steps
2. Holland Village (Filming location for Korean Drama ‘All-In’)
*This is the bench that the main actors sat on… Erm but I dun remember their names.. =P
Oh while exploring around the place we discovered a beach hidden all the way down below the cliff! But we only have 40 mins. So we began a mad dash down the tedious flights of steps coz since we’re only here once, muz grab the chance to see the nice beach! Ah but realli not enuff time to spare, so the three of us only reached thus far~ Wat a waste… But at least we got a nearer view.

3. Teddy Bear Museum
Simply cute bears here~ They have all sorts of teddies dressed in all sorts of costumes in all shapes n sizes! A Teddy bear heaven for teddy lovers =D
*My personal favourite
*Ee Ling’s Choice
*Helping out at Teddy’s Store
*The most expensive LV bear
*Climbing tree wif frenly Black Bear
*Joining in Teddy’s Party
4. Songup Folk Village
This is one of the filming location for Da Chang Jing.
We took one photo wif one of the actors in the show~ SPOT HER!
5. Mandarin orange plantation
Lots of oranges here, can pluck and eat them fresh from the trees~ Yum yum…
6. Songsan Sunrise Peak
20 mins climb to reach the top of this volcano crater. But it’s all worth the exercise! Of coz its beri cold up there too~ Coz of the wind…
The view is too nice for the camera to capture the beauty (Needs panoramic lens.. Ha)
*One edge of the crater
PS: Pls find posts for subsequent days below... =)

KoReA Trip ~Day Four to Five~

Day Four
We took an early flight today back to Gimpo Airport.
Oh lunch of the day is Korean Bibimbap. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bibimbap]
*I dun quite remember wat we had for the other meals.. coz no photo.. haha.. But there’s always kimchi on the table for every single meal! Nonetheless I am unable to get used to the taste after so many days. Some of them say that the more u eat the nicer it taste. Doesn’t work for me, but I admit I hafen been trying it everytime. =P

Next stop is Nami Island at Chuncheon!
It’s another filming location for winter sonata.
This island is full of colorful autumn trees! It’s a very pretty sight in autumn. Used to be a private island where nobody goes. But every since the filming then it became v popular and now collects $$ per entry.
*Enjoying ice-cream in the cool nice weather at Nami Island, amidst rows of 银杏树… Romantic
*Not forgetting to collect some maple leaves for keepsake. *grin*
I’m a notty girl.. coz I xxxxx from the trees.. Oops.. Shhhh…

*Prettiest tree spotted on the island. It has 3 colors! Green yellow and red.. All on one tree!
*EeLing said this 背影 pic is the nicest one she took.. Wahaha.. Coz its me mah.. =P
*As the autumn leaves fall to the ground… the ground becomes like this…
Dinner is at this Korean BBQ shop along Myongdong shopping street.
*And EeLing took the chance to take photo wif our 帅哥 photographer.. aka cook and porter...
We had a long bus ride tonite to Yongpyong Dragon Valley Ski Resort, and wow! Its really cold here. Reached –1 degrees when we arrived. And the resort said that they’ll be spraying man-made snow at the skiing ground. We went out to take a look at nite.. but nth much coz they juz started spraying.. Looks like its gonna take a long time~ So we went back to slp…

Day Five
Cold cold temperature in the morning.. and lazy me din bring enuff clothes… But lucky there’s Milo.. so nice she lend me one thick one.. so that I dun freeze.. =)
So out we go to play in the ‘snow’… Can’t ski though coz snow all melting le… Ah~ when will I see real snow falling from the sky? Wanna make a snow angel in real thick fluffy snow! Next trip? *Make a Wish*
*Inscribed my name on the frozen board
We took a 20 mins cable car ride to the top of Yongpyong resort. Wah even colder here. Can see REAL frost on the ground! (yay!) And nice view too~
*Took photo wif our tour guide
*Leaving paw prints behind

Leaving Yongpyong, we head for Mt Sorak National Park. Lots of colorful trees everywhere at the foot of the mountain.
*We love ice-cream~
We ascend the peak with a 5min cable car ride. Then proceed up twists and turns of steps.. to reach the breathtaking peak! Which is the Kwon Kum Seong Fortress.

*It’s a very steep cliff! Dun dare go too near.. ha..
*Ee Ling enjoying herself
Lots of Koreans will proceed to climb up the peak, where the flag is.. But for us, its better not to 殃及池鱼.. in case we go tumbling down…
We proceed to Hanwah Waterpia resort. After checking in, we went to have fun the Waterpia, an indoor water theme park. Oh they have natural hot spring water here! But no photos to show.. Coz for the indoor hot spring, you’ll supposed to go in naked. Else ppl will chase u out!~ Quite an experience to see everyone naked walking around like nobody’s business.. Haha.. The actual theme park have those water slides and wave pools, for the families and kids to enjoy. We missed out on the outdoor hot spring coz the guide din say there was and its so cold that we din venture outside.
