Phuket 2010

Haven't been posting for quite some time.. I guess is coz too many things happened over these few months..
Now it's 2010.. The new year passed, the chinese new year passed, even the march holidays are over..

Anyway, 1st trip this yr.. honour given to Ee Ling's special request.. Bday trip for her =)
Think she has been thinking of a beach resort sun-tanning trip for a long long time le.. Well, Langkawi didn't work out.. =P

So I'm lazy to post photos.. Here's 2 collages she made, summarized the trip *10 dun sue me for copyright ya*

Our hotel, Pacific Club Resort, is quite a posh one.  We managed to stay in their family suite on the top floor coz we have 7 ppl.  Two bedrooms, one living room, small kitchen, and a long balcony overlooking the deep blue sea further out of Karon Beach.

Day 1 was spent exploring ard Karon, surveying shopping mall and buying groceries to fill the fridge coz we have no breakfast provided.  But every morning the chef, Ben, will be up realli early, whipping up delicious breakfast.. Yummy~

Day 2 was a full day trip spent Kayaking, viewing sea caves and island hopping.. Including a swim at a yucky muddy bay.. Yikes, now I still remember how it felt like stepping on the clay-eee sea bed.. =S

Day 3, due to unforeseen circumstances (*snorkeling ppl din pick us up*), we spent our day roaming ard the malls, going for massages, walking around Patong.  Of coz, 10 visited her Hard Rock and I got another shot glass to add to my collection.. Dinner was at this cozy restaurant somewhere, where Ben's fren had already made a reservation before we came.. So nice

Day 4, we finally went for the much awaited snorkelling.  The first island stop with snorkelling by the beach was rather disappointing, nth much to see.  Phi Phi island was our lunch stop, and it was too commercialised that I thought.  Nothing on the island reminds me of the iconic pretty scenery that I should be expecting. =(  Luckily the after lunch snorkelling spots at Monkey Beach and Maya Bay was really nice.  Huge big corals on the shallow seabed.. Not enough time to finish roaming ard the areas..

Day 5 is the day to head home.  And this is the first time I experienced flight delay by Jetstar.  Lucky it's just 1 hr plus delay.. And I forgot to mention, the most impt game of the trip, Monopoly Deal, kept us occupied happily till we can finally board the plane to go home..

*Looking forward to the next trip already* =)

Leonids 2009

"This year, the cosmic spectacle could be seen from all over the planet, but astronomers said Asia had the best viewing spots. "

So I went for the Science Centre Event at Japanese garden on 17 Nov, Tuesday.. They had an interesting planetarium tour, explaining to us the various constellations in the sky and how to identify them.. in a dome shaped inflated bubble thing so that it will be all dark inside for us to see the stars projections.. Very informative =)

Originally planned to leave after 12mn, but stayed on all the way till 6am coz too determined to catch some meteors..  This time I'm very sure wat I saw was meteors.. Tink I caught abt 5-6 for the whole nite after keeping myself awake with short "rest eyes" periods.. Mostly during the peak from 5am to 5.45am.. Happi~  Wonder when I'll catch so many meteors in one nite again..

Braces Day

I finally took off my braces!  This time the dentist didn't bluff me.. Was half skeptical when I went for my appointment..  Chking back on the dates.. the braces were put on 20 Sep 2007!.. So it's more than 2 years oreadi.. Lucky the teeth weren't too yellowish..

Now it feels weird without braces.. Not used to my new smile yet.. =)

Nepal Oct-Nov 2009

This's the bunch of interesting, fit n crazy ppl who brought so much fun to my Nepal Trip~
*Nicely drawn by Serene.. She realli captured out distinct characteristics in the drawing*

Frm top left, gg clockwise - Tracy, Edmund, Kahsiong, Huiyi, LH, Ming Ren, Serene, drunk 10, drunk Ben, drunk Hannah, Ellen and Weineng..

Day 1 - To Kathmandu & Temple Visiting
After a long 5hrs flight on board SilkAir, we arrived in Kathmandu airport.. First bad experience was the extortion of tips at the airport after some unknown ppl help put our bags into our guide's van.  But ok la.. for the rest of the trip nth bad happened.. =)

Visited this Boudhanath Temple in Kathmandu after meeting up with the rest at Fire n Ice Restaurant.. *Hard a hard time finding it! and remembering the way back~*

Day 2 - To Pokhara N Rafting

Did grade 3 rafting today, on the way from Kathmandu to Pokhara.  Took us 3 hrs to do the rafting, and ended with a group of wet, famished ppl..

Lunch was yummy, with salad, luncheon meat, and other ingredients to make nice sandwiches.. =)

Had dinner at a Nepalese Restaurant at Pokhara and tried their local Nepalese cuisine.. which costs more than western food on the menu.. *still prefer western, can't get used to the taste* Thereafter we had some shopping and I got my long-sleeved dry-fit top which is very useful thruout the trek.. Dries easily so wun catch a cold after much sweating..

Day 3 - Climb Starts
After a 2 hr mini-bus ride to our starting point.. The much awaited trekking starts.. Steps, steps and more steps.. Cow dung, donkey poo and more dung line the stoney path.. Thighs quite suan at the end of the day.. But luckily there's no muscle aches..

*Taken at rest stops along the endless flights of steps..

*EeLing's idea of a group photo~
Visited the school in this little village to donate the various items that we brought along with us.. So glad that they were happy to receive our donation items.. Especially the air pumps for inflating the balls..

*Library donated by a French lady a year before us..

*The row of classrooms.. The children were performing aerobics for us..

 *One of the classrooms

We rested the nite at this cold teahouse.. Coz it is quite open to the winds.. Whr I had a beer too much and vomitted in the middle of the nite, waking up n troubling my roomie.. Did some washing n went back to try to slp after dat..

My bed at the teahouse.. It's a twin room..

*The amazing amount of backpacks belonging to our group.. Tough job for the porters!

Day 4 - Ascend to Poon Hill Base
Got up rather early today and caught the pretty sunrise view frm the teahouse.. One of my fav shots.. =)

*Camera enthusiasts or just enjoying the moment..
Second day has lots of 'Ups' as well.. But not as siong as the first day i tink.. Or probably we got used to the endless flights of steps.. The walking stick is realli useful.. made my arm do some work instead of tiring the limbs totally..

*Taking a break along the way.. Water, Muesli Bars.. Stretching..
We reached the teahouse at Poon Hill's base pretty early in the day.. Had lunch, bathed and got to do some walking ard the mini town where the teahouse resides.  The apple pie here was surprisingly nice.. =)

*Inside one of the shops

*Other lodgehouses in the village

Nite was cold as expected (opens another heatpack again..) and we're to rise early at abt 3.30am for the ascend to Poon Hill next morning to catch the sunrise.. *highlight of the trip*

Day 5 - Poon Hill N Descend Starts
We braved the freezing water to brush teeth and wash up and we're ready to go, with all our torches lighting the way.. Sky had pretty stars tonite.. but nonetheless can't be compared to the amazing milky way view at Alishan.. Hope I get the chance to go back to see it someday..

Sunrise Sunrise!

Lots of photos were taken with the sunrise background.. Time is precious here.. Snap snap snap..

The sky is almost brightening up already..

Can't leave without a group photo at the highlight of our trip!

*3210m.. The signboard that everyone must take a pic with!~ Esp the two of them.. haha

Day 6 - Descend
Too many steps down is bad.. Tough on the knees.. But of coz much faster then climbing up... And less sweat too.. Today we continue our descend to the last teahouse stay of the trek.. Which is the most beautiful one, with the most yummy food!

We started the day with this breakfast.. I dun like naan.. =S

A fairytale-like stairway.. Lined with pretty purple flowers..

Midway rest stop.. Serene not feeling well.. =(

And of coz there's Hannah in her drunk state.. Requesting to do yoga pose again~

And then it's dinner time.. The pizza is very nice!~ yum yum

And before gg to slp.. we saw this huge hairy spider prowling ard outside our bedroom door -__-||| So we faster close the door and go slp.. haha

Day 7 - Descend N Back to Pokhara
We continue on our downward descend towards Pokhara.. The cool climate is gone.. Kind of sad to leave the mountains.. Life is so simple up there.. The beauty of nature is so real and near.. And I don't miss my laptop and TV.. Y din we chose to go ABC trek in the first place? Haha.. Then can stay up in the mountains longer.. Hee.. But anyway.. Yay i survived without Yoko yoko! But i tripped and fell once then got to nurse my blue-blacks.. =S
