Cameron Highlands & Ipoh Trip

Pre-Departure
Had a nice steamboat dinner at Golden Mile Tower on Friday evening. And we departed Singapore at 10.30pm, from Golden Mile Complex, on some bus named Genting Express. But we're going to Cameron Highlands!

Day One
The trip took around 8 hours and I din managed to slp much as anticipated. Thanks to Ee Ling who tried hard to stay awake and talk to me for the first part of the journey. After that we decided that we shall try to catch some slp. Reached Brinchang town (at Cameron) around 7 plus in the morning. Then some sales manager from an agency named Titiwangsa came on board to advertise their tour packages. Though the prices were not really cheap, we decided to sign up for two of them. Firstly to save ourselves the trouble of finding our way everywhere and for the included transportation, as the places of interest were rather far and not very accessible by foot. We started off with the 'Nature Discovery' tour, bringing us to the Boh Tea plantation where we bought many many packets of tea for our frens, families and colleagues.

Next was the nature walk on top of Mount Brinchang. Although it was a short 30 mins jungle trail walk, it was really memorable, with us taking a picture at a strategic place and we also chose to cross a dangerous spot. Thinking back maybe we shldn't have done it, but lucky all were safe n sound. =)We then went up to a metal tower at the top of Mount Brinchang to take in the fantastic views of the mountain ranges nearby. It was so nice. Hence trigger-happy me took lots n lots of photos on that tower. =D The tour continues to bring us to visit some Eucalyptus trees at a dry forest and an Aboriginal village, both of which aren't very interesting. We spent the rest of the afternoon walking through Tanah Rata town and eating lunch cum tea at T cafe. After that we bought lots of snacks, water and a bottle of red wine back to our Strawberry Park resort. In the evening, we went to Brinchang town to walk the night market (pasar malam) as the night market is only available on Fridays and Saturdays. It was slightly drizzling then. We ended our night by chatting, eating chips and watching 'Star Movies'.

Day Two
Day two started at 5am in the morning. Hafen woke up so so early for ages! Oh we woke up so early as we had signed up for the Sunrise Tour. We were fetched to the top of Mount Brinchang (6666 feet D.P.L) when the sky was still dark. And it was really really cold up there and misty too! Maybe about 16 degrees? With cold gust of winds. Lucky there's hot milo provided! Didn't get to see a fantastic sunrise though, as there were simply too much clouds that morning. Nonetheless, this experience was also memorable, due to the coldness. Haha =P No lah, we climbed up to the tower again and took lots of photos! Happy happy...

After we went back down to Earth, erm is back to Brinchang town, we had a good breakfast and decided to go to visit one of the Strawberry farms. So happened that it wasn't free entry so we juz glimpsed outside and bought their ready plucked big red juicy Strawberries to eat! Yummy!
Then we walked back to Brinchang town (strayed off the main path to explore, but found a seemingly dog skeleton instead), bought more snacks, as alot had been snapped up by Weineng the previous night. We then da bao-ed our lunch back to the resort and enjoyed it with the company of 'Star Movies'. We had a 'chat session' (*wink*) before feeling sleepy and taking an afternoon nap. Yawnz~
After a good nap we went to get some good food, at Jew May Yen Restaurant. Steamboat in a cool place is great! Eat all you want without sweating~ We even took a photo with the 老板娘. =)
Day Three
We departed Cameron Highlands for Ipoh in the morning. The bus trip took us around two hours. We reached Gopeng Bus Terminal at Ipoh around 11 plus am. After that we took a taxi to Excelsior Hotel and checked in. Programme for the afternoon includes a visit to the famous haunted Kellie's Castle, 50 mins taxi ride off Ipoh city centre. Although it was a small place, but its really fun to explore, with access to roof tops etc. And of coz our exploring session was filled with lots of photo-taking. =P

Next up we went to the water theme park, the Lost World of Tambun. It was very small ah, and the rides not that exciting.. Haha, but its fun to relax in the water during the super hot afternoon. The ground was so hot that we got to run almost everywhere! To avoid prolonged contact of our feet with the ground. The bad part was, the ground was so steamingly hot that my feet got a number of blisters.. so pain.. =S Below is an artistic shot of ourselves after visiting the Tambun Theme park =)
We had the famous Ipoh Hor Fun and 芽菜鸡 for dinner, under recommendation from the Taxi uncle. Oh another thing to note is that the chinese locals there speaks only Cantonese! Lucky got Chun Yip around, else we will be talking 鸡同鸭讲 and 比手画脚 liaoz. After dinner we bought some Ipoh White Kopi sachets and went to the Parkson Shopping Mall to shop around and recee for things to buy back to Singapore. =)
Day Four
Day four started with Caves visiting! First up was the famous Perak Tong. It was really majestic! The one i liked most. We spent about one hour plus climbing up the cave all the way to the top and exploring places accessible. Hee =P You can see the whole of Ipoh from the top! One very interesting encounter at the cave would be the fortune telling session. Its the first time I had mine told. Was rather interested to have it told that I requested to go back to the cave a second time coz I missed my chance the first round. Would it be accurate? Time will unfold my life story... *期待*

Afternoon was spent visiting other caves, including Kek Lek Tong, Sam Poh Tong and others. They are not too far from each other and only require short taxi rides to visit each one. After which we went to Parkson again, this time to shop for stuffs we need to get and then had a nice dinner again, with Wat Tan Hor, chicken feet and Fried Hor Fun. Yum yum.. the hor fun there is simply fantastic! A far cry from what we have in Singapore ah.. Missed it..
And then.. its time to depart Ipoh, back to Singapore. I had a better slp during the way back, maybe because the bus was double decker, and they provided a towel for blanket. Makes it more cozy to sleep. But I guess I was rather tired already, from all the active playing in four days. So slp slp slp and back I am in Singapore! =) The smaller blue totoro is wat I brought back for myself la~ New addition to my soft toy family...
